BAC Levels

About BAC Levels

Our Mission

BAC Levels provides free, accessible blood alcohol content estimation tools. Our goal is simple: help people make more informed decisions about alcohol consumption and driving.

Our Methodology

All BAC calculations use the Widmark formula, developed by Swedish chemist Erik Widmark in the 1930s and still used by forensic toxicologists today. The formula accounts for alcohol consumed, body weight, biological sex, time elapsed, and food intake.

The standard elimination rate used is 0.015% BAC per hour, which represents the average adult metabolism rate. Individual rates can vary from 0.010% to 0.020% per hour.

Important Limitations

This tool provides estimates only. It cannot account for individual factors like medication interactions, liver health, genetics, tolerance, or hydration level. The only reliable way to measure BAC is with a calibrated breathalyzer or blood test.

This is an educational tool, not medical advice. When in doubt, don't drive.

Privacy

All calculations happen entirely in your browser. We never collect, store, or transmit your personal data or BAC results. Your profile (weight, gender) is saved only in your browser's local storage.
